BJP Tamil Nadu president K. Annamalai clarifies National Education Policy's three-language policy, refuting claims of Hindi imposition by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.
The three-language policy outlined in the National Education Policy, 2020, is intended to provide students with opportunities to learn multiple languages and it does not impose Hindi “as claimed by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin in the Assembly,” said BJP Tamil Nadu president K. Annamalai on Tuesday (March 25, 2025).
In a post on X, Mr. Annamalai said, “By misrepresenting the policy as an attempt to impose Hindi, the Chief Minister has reinforced the DMK’s hidden agenda that only those who can afford to learn multiple languages should have the access to it.”
Quoting the policy note of the School Education Department, Mr. Annamalai claimed the State government had spent ₹11 crore on promoting Sanskrit in 2024-25 and allocated ₹10 crore for the same in 2025-26. Further, ₹13 crore was spent on promoting other languages in 2024-25, and ₹14 crore had been earmarked for 2025-26. “The Chief Minister should explain to the people what steps the DMK government has taken to promote Sanskrit and other languages in the State,” he added.
