Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated through video conference on Tuesday an accommodation facility for industrial workers at the SIDCO Industrial Estate at Kurichi in Coimbatore city.
An official press release said the ₹23.05-crore project can accommodate 528 workers. Spread over 1.4 acres, the ground plus three floors facility has 111 rooms. The industrial units at the SIDCO estate at Kurichi will take the rooms on rent for their workers and pay the rent to the Tamil Nadu Small Industries Development Corporation (SIDCO).
The accommodation will be maintained by the Coimbatore SIDCO Industrial Estate Manufacturers Welfare Association. P. There are rooms that can accommodate six or four workers each.
Official sources said there are over 3,000 workers at the industrial estate and there is scope to add two more floors to the building.
