
Strong winds leave parts of P.E.I. without power

More than 1,000 Maritime Electric customers are without power after high winds blew across the Island Friday night into Saturday.
As of noon AT, the company's outage map shows more than 1,139 customers in different locations across the Island without electricity.
This includes patches in central and eastern P.E.I., and parts in the western region stretching from Alberton to Tignish.
The utility expects all outages to be restored by 3 p.m.
The Confederation Bridge is closed to all traffic until further notice.

Sarnia City Council will hold a special meeting Tuesday morning to respond to social media comments made by Coun. Bill Dennis, who criticized city spending on a new mural by Indigenous artist Kennady Osborne as “virtue signalling by woke politicians” — then made a series of comments in response to a reply from Aamjiwnaang Chief Janelle Nahmabin that some have characterized as unprofessional and aggressive.
