The "Late Show" host also had a backhanded compliment for the president.
Stephen Colbert on Tuesday had some advice for America on how to deal with the rest of President Donald Trump’s second term in office: drink.
The “Late Show” host said he read that passengers in auto accidents who are “a little drunk” are “a little looser,” making them less likely to have severe injuries than people who tense up before impact.
“I think at this point it would help if we were all just a little drunk because maybe then... it wouldn’t be so painful when he drives the world into a telephone pole,” Colbert said.
The audience cheered ― but his next update led to jeers as Colbert pointed out a proposal by Rep. Bob Onder (R-Mo.) to rename the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
Under his “Make Entertainment Great Again Act,” it would become the “Donald J. Trump Center for the Performing Arts.”
