Stellantis will revive its third shift in Windsor Tuesday — along with 1,700 jobs
CBC
Stellantis has announced the official launch of the new third shift at its Windsor Assembly Plant.
The shift, with more than 1,700 employees, begins Tuesday.
“Launching the new third shift at the Windsor Assembly Plant is a proud and significant milestone for Stellantis and for our Canadian operations,” said Stellantis Canada president and CEO Trevor Longley in a news release.
“With production of our next-generation, award-winning Dodge Charger lineup and No. 1-selling Chrysler minivans ramping up, we’re creating jobs, expanding capacity and building real momentum. This investment reinforces our commitment to Canadian manufacturing and to the incredible team at Windsor Assembly. We couldn’t be more excited to get started.”
The additional shift will accommodate production of the Chrysler minivan lineup and the all-new 2026 Dodge Charger lineup, the company said.
The third shift brings total employment at the plant to nearly 6,000 people, it said.
That includes nearly 250 employees who transferred from Brampton after Stellantis scrapped plans to assemble the Jeep Compass there.
The three shifts run midnights, days and afternoons in all major areas of the plant, the company said.
Stellantis “remains firmly focused on maintaining a strong Canadian footprint and is actively evaluating future production plans for the Brampton Assembly Plant,” the company said in the release, “with a goal to ensure that any investments made are sustainable, support long-term growth and strengthen opportunities for Canadian workers and suppliers.”
