Special weather statement calls for heavy rain in Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent, Sarnia-Lambton

Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent and Sarnia can all expect between 20 and 40 millimetres of rainfall this weekend.
Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a special weather statement calling for heavy rainfall Saturday evening through Sunday night, along with a risk of thunderstorms.
Local rainfall could exceed 40 mm in some areas, the weather office said.
Localized flooding is possible in low-lying areas and water may pool on roads.
Frozen ground has a reduced ability to absorb the water, the agency said.

With its emergency shelter beds frequently running at 50 per cent over capacity and demand so great that it's forced to refer some women escaping domestic violence elsewhere, Gillian's Place in St. Catharines will soon be able to offer a broader range of services to more victims of gender-based violence.
