Special task force to investigate threats issued to Haryana MLAs from foreign countries

Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij on Sunday said a special task force will investigate the threat calls received by five Haryana MLAs. Vij said the calls were made from foreign countries.

Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij on Sunday said that a special task force will investigate the threats issued to state cabinet ministers from foreign countries. The threats were issued to the ministers on call.

Vij’s announcement comes after five Haryana MLAs said they received threatening calls. Out of the five MLAs, one is from the BJP while the remaining four are from the main opposition Congress. Most of the calls pertain to extortion threats made over mobile phones of the legislators from unknown numbers.

Anil Vij said he was monitoring the case personally and is updated about any developments daily. Vij told the media at a press conference in Sonipat that the investigation is in its final stage but the details of the case cannot be made public due to its sensitivity.

Replying to a question that the opposition said law and order has broken down in the state, Vij said all these calls to legislators are coming from abroad.

Anil Vij also spoke on the issue of miscreants entering Congress MLA Kuldeep Vats’s house on Friday. According to the police, five men on Friday had allegedly barged into the Pataudi house of Badli’s Congress MLA Kuldeep Vats when he was not there and beat up his cook, threatening to set the minister “right like Sidhu Moose Wala”.

Anil Vij told the media that he met Vats and had spoken to the officials concerned in the case. “We will catch these miscreants,” said Vij.
