Southeast Calgary shooting leaves 1 dead

A man is dead after what police believe was a targeted shooting outside a store in southeast Calgary on Monday night.
Police say they responded to reports that a man was seriously injured at the 200 block of 28th Street S.E. just after 7 p.m.
The man was declared dead at the scene, and police say they have no reports that anyone else was injured during the incident.
Patrol officers across the city are working with the homicide and canine units to gather as much information as possible to lead to a suspect description, police said.
"Anyone with information about tonight's incident is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers," the homicide unit's Staff Sgt. Martin Schiavetta said.
"The first hours of any homicide investigation are critical for gathering as much information as we can to lead to a swift apprehension of the person, or persons, responsible."
No further information will be shared about the victim until the next of kin has been notified and an autopsy is completed, police said.
