South Africa vs India: Baffling India didn't use Venkatesh Iyer's bowling in 1st ODI, says Aakash Chopra
India Today
India tour of South Africa: Former opener Aakash Chopra said India can consider playing Suryakumar Yadav or Ishan Kishan in place of Venkatesh Iyer in ODIs if the all-rounder is not going to be used to bowl a couple of overs.
Former India opener Aakash Chopra questioned India team management's decision to not give Venkatesh Iyer a bowl in the 1st ODI against South Africa in Paarl on Wednesday. India handed Iyer an ODI debut in the series opener but he was not asked to roll his arm over despite the rest of the bowling unit struggling to make the most of a slow pitch at Boland Park.
Speaking to Star Sports, Aakash Chopra wondered if the team management even considers Venkatesh Iyer as an all-rounder, highlighting that he was not given a lot of overs to bowl when in his debut T20I series under Rohit Sharma's captaincy against New Zealand last year.
