Sony is launching Sony Mobility to bring its electric vehicle concepts to market. The Vision-S and Vision-S 02 are loaded with safety and entertainment tech.
The Vision-S and 4-7-passenger Vision-S 02 are designed around the same midsize platform powered by an 536 hp all-wheel drivetrain with an as yet unspecified battery size and driving range between charges.
As expected from a company like Sony, the vehicles are equipped with a vast array of technology that includes 40 sensors of various types (camera, radar, lidar) mounted on the exterior and in the cabin to enable the semi-automated driving, safety, and monitoring systems, plus a lip-reading feature that supplements voice command capability.
The front panoramic display and dual rear screens are integrated with an infotainment system that offers streaming video and PlayStation gaming with sound provided by a "360 Reality Audio" system that incorporates speakers into the seats for an "immersive" experience.
