President Donald Trump was booed Sunday during the FIFA Club World Cup at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey as he handed trophies to Chelsea, the winning team.
Trump was booed several times throughout the night. First, during the National Anthem, he was shown on the Jumbotron, according to USA Today. Then, later, while presenting trophies to the winners. The Club World Cup, the global competition between club teams, is seen as a preview to the World Cup, which will also host its final game at MetLife Stadium next year.
FIFA moved its offices into Trump Tower in New York City, FIFA president Gianni Infantino announced last week. It’s just the latest example of the organization building ties with the president before the U.S. hosts the World Cup next year.
