Snow squalls to blanket the London area tonight

Environment Canada says snow squalls could dump as much as 20 centimetres in the London area by early Tuesday morning, creating potentially hazardous driving conditions on the roads.
Snow squalls over Lake Huron are expected to move in London just after dark, according to Environment Canada Warning-Preparedness Meteorologist Peter Kimbell.
"We are talking about a period of time when the accumulation will be pretty significant over a short period of time with winds, blowing snow, icy roads, so very difficult conditions, very hazardous," he said.
If you can avoid driving this evening, it probably would be a good idea, he added.
The good news is the event should wrap up by early Tuesday morning.
"The worst will be this evening, but it could certainly be very hazardous (on the roads) for a little while," said Kimbell.
The snow squalls from the same system are already descending on areas to the north of London, including Huron-Perth and Grey-Bruce, where weather warnings have been posted.
Local accumulations of 20 to 40 centimetres are expected in the Goderich and Stratford regions by Tuesday morning. Similar amounts are expected in Owen Sound and northern Grey county.
Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight.
