Multiple milk products recalled due to possible glass

Multiple types of milk are being recalled due to the possible presence of glass in the products.

The recall was voluntarily triggered by Agropur and involves two-litre cartons of milk sold under the Farmers, Québon and Natrel brands.

The affected products were distributed across Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Quebec, with one Natrel product sold nationally.

For the Farmers brand, the recall applies to two-litre cartons of 1 per cent chocolate partly skimmed milk, 1 per cent partly skimmed milk, 2 per cent partly skimmed milk, and 3.25 per cent homogenized milk.

These products were distributed in Nova Scotia and P.E.I., with most carrying best-before dates ranging from late March to early April.

The Natrel recall affects two-litre cartons of 1 per cent lactose-free chocolate partly skimmed milk, distributed nationally. The affected products have best-before dates from early April through mid-May.

In Quebec, the recall involves two-litre cartons of Québon 2 per cent chocolate partly skimmed milk. Best-before dates for these products include March 25 and several dates in April.

“Do not consume, serve, use, sell, or distribute recalled products,” the food recall warns. “Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased.

In a news release, Agropur said the affected milk products were manufactured at its Bedford, N.S., facility.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency said it is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products. The agency is also verifying that recalled items are being removed from the marketplace.
