SIU investigating after man killed in crash while fleeing Toronto police officers

Ontario's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is investigating after a man died in a collision while fleeing Toronto Police Service officers Saturday afternoon.
The SIU said preliminary information suggests that at approximately 2 p.m., officers in unmarked police vehicles tried to stop a man in a pickup truck, believed to be stolen, on Feller Road.
The man fled and was involved in a single-vehicle collision in the area of Martin Grove Road and Dixon Road, the SIU said in a news release.
The truck caught fire and the man died.
The SIU is an independent civilian agency that's called in to investigate reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or sexual assault.
Three investigators and one forensic investigator have been assigned to the case.
