After 11 days of Parliament proceedings being disrupted, there seems to finally be a ray of hope that the government and Opposition parties may get together in the Rajya Sabha to end the stalemate. 

After 11 days of disruptions that led to almost 83 per cent of working time wasted in Parliament, there is a ray of hope that the government and Opposition parties may get together in the Rajya Sabha to end the stalemate. Over the last 24 hours, Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu held a series of meetings with ministers and Opposition leaders to broker peace. Finally, today at a meeting organised by Naidu, the two warring sides agreed on allowing eight items of business, including 7 bills, for passage in the Upper House. For these, 17 hours of debate have been allotted.
