Shamarh Brooks, making his debut at 33, just missed out on become the second West Indies player after Desmond Haynes to score a century on ODI debut as his unbeaten 93 helped them beat Ireland by 24 runs and take a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series.
Debutant Shamarh Brooks scored 93 and led West Indies against Ireland to a 24-run victory in the first ODI at Sabina Park on Saturday. The West Indies were all out for 269 on the penultimate ball, and Ireland were dismissed for 245 at the start of the last over.
Brooks just missed becoming the second West Indian to score an ODI century on debut, after Desmond Haynes, the team's new selector.
