Sri Lanka tour of Bangladesh: Shakib Al Hasan, who missed the tour of New Zealand earlier this year due to paternity leave, returns to the ODI squad which will be led by Tamim Iqbal.

Bangladesh Cricket Board on Thursday announced a 15-member squad for the first 2 matches of a 3-match ODi series at home against Sri Lanka scheduled to be played between May 23 and 28. Opener Tamim Iqbal will continue to lead the limited-overs side. All the three ODIs will be played at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan makes a comeback into the side for the first time since the Tests against West Indies where he suffered a thigh strain. Shakib did not feature in Bangladesh's tour of New Zealand in March after opting for paternity leave. Shakib Al Hasan played for Kolkata knight Riders in the now-suspended Indian Premier League. Shakib played only 3 matches for KKR, scoring 26 runs and picking up 2 wickets before he was dropped to the bench. IPL 2021 was suspended due to positive Covid-19 cases in the bio-bubbles of franchises. Bangladesh players, including Shakib and Mustafizur Rahman, had returned home following the suspension.
