SFI holds protest in Delhi over hijab row in Karnataka, several detained

Several activists of the SFI, including JNUSU president Aishe Ghosh were detained while holding protests in Delhi in support of Muslim women over the hijab controversy in Karnataka.
Several activists of the Students' Federation of India (SFI) were detained on Friday while holding protests in Delhi in support of Muslim women over the hijab controversy in Karnataka.
The SFI activists, including Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) president Aishe Ghosh, were detained by Delhi Police from near Arunachal Bhawan.
The activists from students’ organisations were planning to stage a protest in front of the Karnataka Bhawan in solidarity with the Muslim students of Karnataka and against the Hijab ban on campuses in Karnataka.
"Even before we could assemble and start sloganeering (against the Hijab ban in Karnataka), we were picked by the Delhi Police. We have been taken away in a bus by the Delhi Police officials," Aishe Ghosh, JNUSU president told India Today over the telephone.
They have been taken to Mandir Marg police station.
