Nova Scotia RCMP are advising people to avoid the Cooks Cove area of Guysborough County as a search is underway for a child who fell into the water.
First responders were called at approximately 1:40 p.m. AT on Thursday to a report of a child who fell into a river that runs into the ocean, RCMP told CBC News.
Police have not shared details about the child's age or gender.
Multiple agencies are involved in the search, including the RCMP, fire, EHS, ground search and rescue groups, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, the Civil Air search and Rescue Association as well as the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre.
In a post to social media at 4:01 p.m., RCMP asked people to avoid the area "to give officers and partner agencies room to do their work."
