India Today
Former Australia skipper Mark Taylor has said that the resurgence of the Sandpaper scandal could hurt Steve Smith's chances of becoming Australia's captain again.
Former Australian captain Mark Taylor on Sunday said that Steve Smith is a potential candidate for Australia's captaincy, but the resurgence of the Sandpaper Gate scandal doesn't help his case. Notably, Smith was banned for a year and removed from the captaincy after the sandpaper gate incident in 2018. Tim Paine took over the leadership during the turmoil but considering the poor success rate of Australia in Tests under him, there are calls for his replacement. Also, Tim Paine is expected to retire after Ashes 2020-21. Controversial erupted this month after Cameron Bancroft, who was banished for 9 months for his involvement in the 2018 Cape Town Test controversy, hinted in a recent interview that the Australia bowlers were also aware that ball-tampering tactics were being employed by their players in the Newlands Test.More Related News
