Badminton player Saina Nehwal shared her thoughts on Shraddha Kapoor as her preferred choice for a potential biopic remake. She clarified her rapport with Parineeti Chopra and addressed recent social media buzz.
Badminton player Saina Nehwal has said that if her biopic were to be remade, she would still choose actor Shraddha Kapoor to portray her on screen. Her comments come amid attention over actor Parineeti Chopra unfollowing her on Instagram.
Saina Nehwal originally selected Shraddha before Parineeti took on the lead role in the 2021 film, Saina.
In an interview with journalist Vickey Lalwani, the 35-year-old was asked who she would want to cast in her role for a biopic if it were made again. She quickly responded with Shraddha’s name. The actor was initially cast for the role but reportedly had to withdraw due to health issues before filming began.
Saina emphasised that the 38-year-old was always her first choice for the role. She said, “We are still in touch and I’ve met her many times. She’s a very sweet girl. She had agreed to do the film but had to opt out due to dengue.”
Reflecting on her working relationship with Parineeti, Saina explained that their interaction was mostly professional. She shared, “Friendship requires spending a lot of time together, but there wasn’t enough time since the film had to be released quickly. We weren’t meeting every day."
She further noted that the actor put significant effort into preparing for the role, learning the technical aspects of badminton and closely observing Nehwal’s mannerisms to accurately portray her on screen.
