Sachs Harbour, N.W.T., under boil water advisory

The community of Sachs Harbour, N.W.T., is under a boil water advisory.
A news release from the territory's chief public health officer Monday afternoon says all residents should boil water meant for consumption for at least one minute.
That includes water used for drinking and food preparation, hot and cold beverages, ice cubes, washing produce, and dental hygiene. The advisory also instructed residents to not drink water from public fountains.
The advisory called the move precautionary, and said it's due to "frozen intake and truck-fill pipes" at the treatment plant. The issue means the plant is unable to draw water in to treat it, so in the interim manual chlorination is being carried out.
The advisory says there have been no reported illnesses connected to the drinking water in the community.
The hamlet and the Department of Municipal and Community Affairs are working to resolve the issue, and will notify residents when the notice is lifted.

Sarnia City Council will hold a special meeting Tuesday morning to respond to social media comments made by Coun. Bill Dennis, who criticized city spending on a new mural by Indigenous artist Kennady Osborne as “virtue signalling by woke politicians” — then made a series of comments in response to a reply from Aamjiwnaang Chief Janelle Nahmabin that some have characterized as unprofessional and aggressive.
