SA vs IND: Virat Kohli scores his 2nd slowest Test fifty to steady India in series decider
India Today
Virat Kohli's slow yet resilient knock made the headlines on the opening day of the ongoing 3rd Test as he batted for 159 balls to complete his half century.
Captain Virat Kohli scored his second slowest Test fifty to steady India's innings on the opening day of the series decider against South Africa at the Newlands. Kohli put in a resilient effort to get to a fifty off 150 deliveries on a difficult Newlands track. Incidentally, it is Kohli’s second-slowest half-century following a 172-ball effort earlier in his career.
Kohli was perhaps fortunate to survive 10 minutes before tea when South Africa claimed a catch by wicketkeeper Kyle Verreynne off seamer Duanne Olivier. It was given not out, but on review there was a small flutter as the ball passed the bat on the technology used to determine if the batsman had got an edge. It was deemed not enough evidence to overturn the decision though.
