RR vs DC: Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant on Wednesday completed 4000 runs in T20 cricket during DC's 8-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals in Mumbai.
Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant on Wednesday added yet another achievement to his young but decorated career as he completed 4000 T20 runs during DC's 8-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals in Mumbai.
Mitchell Marsh and David Warner anchored the Delhi Capitals to an eight-wicket win over the Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday and kept their team in contention for the Indian Premier League playoffs. Rishabh Pant's captaincy also drew a lot of praise.
Delhi romped to 161/2 with 11 balls to spare after Rajasthan struggled to reach 160/6 as its captain Sanju Samson lost the toss and was asked to bat first. Fifth-place Delhi has 12 points and third-place Rajasthan 14 with two league games left.
Marsh was lucky to score 89 and Warner made an unbeaten 52 as the Australian batters shared a 144-run second-wicket stand after Trent Boult had removed opener Srikar Bharat off the second ball.
Boult could have made it 2/2, but Rajasthan didn’t go for an lbw referral as the television replay suggested the New Zealand fast bowler’s perfect yorker had hit Marsh’s boot first before the bat.
About the crucial victory, Pant, who had opted to field after winning the toss, said, "It was close to a perfect game as I believe there is always space for improvement. On these kind of wickets where there is little turn, you can go either way.
"I am happy we bowled first. I thought 140-160 was a good score and said so at the toss. And we got there. Destiny is always on your hands, you can look to give 100 percent. The fielding could be better, but this was close to a perfect game."
