Restaurant tipping etiquette: Should you tip for fast food or takeout?
Fox News
Tipping is customary when dining out at a restaurant, but what about when you're picking up a meal to go or grabbing fast food? Fox News Digital spoke to an etiquette expert to find out.
"It usually catches me off-guard," Chris Nordstrom, a commercial real estate executive in Kansas City, Missouri, told Fox News Digital. "Unless they make less than minimum wage, no need to tip." "If tipping becomes an expectation everywhere … then its meaning as a reward for above-and-beyond hospitality is lost." Gretchen Eichenberg is a contributing reporter for Fox News Digital.
"It's not that I mind tipping in the right context," he said. "It's just that fast food, by nature, has traditionally been a non-tipping experience."
