Tribune News NetworkDohaDeputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani has called for dialogue and engagement to deal with the main causes of problems and to establish security and stability in the region. He pointed out that Qatar is exploiting its wide network of friendships to establish security and stability in the region.Speaking in Rome MED 2021 - Mediterranean Dialogues, the FM said, “Our priority in the Gulf region and the Middle East is to bring in security and stability. This will be the only way to bring prosperity to the people of the region.”“The Middle East region cannot be ignored because it is important for the stability of the world, and I do not think there is a decline in the interest of our allies in the region,” he affirmed. The FM also spoke about the role of Qatari mediation in Afghanistan. He said, “There is no clear strategy on the part of the international community to deal with the situation in Afghanistan. The security situation in Afghanistan is raising concerns among neighbouring countries and countries in the region.” The FM said Qatar is communicating with Russia about the situation in Afghanistan, saying that Russia is a partner in establishing stability there.“Russia, China and the countries of the region have legitimate concerns about any tension that might occur in Afghanistan,” the FM added. The Foreign Minister stressed the need for the international community to cooperate on the Afghan situation. He said Qatar and Turkey are working together to rehabilitate Kabul Airport. The FM called for talks involving everyone concerned to solve all the issues. “We cannot solve a problem by boycotting each other,” he added.
