Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has underscored the need to achieve a 15% growth rate to reach the Swarnandhra 2047 goals.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has underscored the need to achieve a 15% growth rate to reach the Swarnandhra 2047 goals.
“Apart from improving the growth rate and Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP), it is also important to lay emphasis on wealth creation,” the Chief Minister said while addressing the third Collectors’ conference that began at the Secretariat on Tuesday.
Mr. Naidu said an increase in Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) helps improve the living standards of the people, enhances government revenues, and enables more welfare programmes.
Pointing out that Andhra Pradesh’s budget stands at ₹3.27 lakh crore, Mr. Naidu told the Collectors to help achieve at least 15% growth in the GSDP.
Andhra Pradesh registered a growth rate of 13.5% during the TDP’s tenure between 2014 and 2019. The growth rate dropped to 10.32% during the YSRCP’s tenure from 2019 to 2024.
“We (the NDA government) achieved a growth rate of 12.02% in 2024-25 financial year. One percent increase in the growth rate generates an additional ₹15,000 crore in revenue. The long-term goal is to make the State a ₹308 lakh crore economy by 2047, with a per capita income of ₹54.60 lakh,” Mr. Naidu said.
The GSDP is driven primarily by the Gross Value Added (GVA) sub-sector contributions. So, it is important to focus on the key sectors including livestock, horticulture, manufacturing, fisheries, and aquaculture. The Collectors must demonstrate their leadership skills and adapt to the rapidly evolving economic landscape. “Re-evaluate and strategise as districts once considered underdeveloped are now progressing rapidly. We need to keep pace with this transformation,” he said.
