RCB vs PBKS: Arshdeep Singh is a leader in Punjab team, he rallies around everyone - Mayank Agarwal

RCB vs PBKS, IPL 2022: Mayank Agarwal said he is happy to bat at No.5 and allow Jonny Bairstow to open the innings for Punjab as long as the team keeps winning. Bairstow and Liam Livingstone decimated the Bangalore bowling attack on Friday.

Punjab Kings captain Mayank Agarwal heaped rich praise on Arshdeep Singh, saying the young pacer has been a leader in the side and full of energy on the field. Mayank's comments came after PBKS hammered Royal Challengers Bangalore by 54 runs in a crunch IPL 2022 encounter at the Brabourne Stadium.

Arshdeep Singh, who was one of the retained players by Punjab Kings, has been stunning with the ball, especially at the death. Several PBKS stars, including Kagiso Rabada, have marveled at the temperament of the 23-year-old pacer.

On Friday, Arshdeep was miserly as he conceded just 27 runs in his 4-over spell and picked up the wicket of in-form Dinesh Karthik, whose innings was cut-short at 11. Arshdeep was electric on the field, picking up a catch and saving runs for PBKS in their defence of 209 runs.

"Very very energetic person, very confident guy. We can see that on the field. He enjoys his cricket and stays stress free," Mayank told Star Sports after PBKS beat RCB.

"Must say he's the leader in the team. He rallies around everyone, takes up the responsibility, even goes up and speaks to the bowlers sometimes," he added.

Arshdeep provided perfect support to Kagiso Rabada and Rishi Dhawan as the PBKS pacers derailed the RCB chase. Rabada finished with figures of 3/21, including the big wicket of Virat Kohli for 20. Rishi Dhawan picked up 2/35, including that of Mahipal Lomror and Faf du Plessis.

Earlier in the day, Punjab Kings, who were in desperate need for a win, rocketed to 209, thanks to a blitzkrieg from Liam Livingstone and Jonny Bairstow.
