Rare white magpie thrills man in Wales: 'Wow, what a thing that was'
Fox News
An amateur photographer and nature lover said he spotted a rare white magpie earlier this month in Wales and called it "beyond anything I could ever imagine seeing."
Wright said the odds of seeing a white magpie are around one in a million, as the birds are very rare. He said he feels "blessed" to have been able to take the photos of the rare creature. Last July, a "strangely colored magpie" thrilled a Perth man who stumbled across the rare white bird at work. Maureen Mackey is managing editor of lifestyle for Fox News Digital.
The magpie could be white due to a condition called leucism — a genetic mutation that results in a total or partial reduction of color in a bird’s plumage, said the same source.
