Ranji Trophy 2022: Delhi came up with a valiant chase as they fell 15 runs short of a 335-run target in their Group H encounter in Guwahati on Sunday. Dhruv Shorey's hundred went in vain as Delhi were bowled out in the final over of the thrilling contest.

In one of the most thrilling Ranji Trophy matches, Delhi lost to Jharkhand by 15 runs in their Elite Group H encounter at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati on Sunday. Dhruv Shorey hit a hundred in a valiant chase by Delhi but the former champions lost the plot in the last session against a spirited Jharkhand bowling attack that kept its calm to clinch 6 crucial points.

Delhi lost the match in the final over of the thrilling chase with Anukul Roy picking up the final wicket of Pradeep Sangwan to break the hearts of the former champions. Shahbaz Nadeem was the star with the ball for Jharkhand as he finished with match figures of 10/141.

The defeat all but ends Delhi's chances of reaching the quarter-final as they have managed just 3 points from 2 games in the 4-team group. Delhi drew their first match against Tamil Nadu after conceding a first-innings lead.

Chattisgarh, who defeated Jharkhand in their first match, are on top of the table with 9 points while Delhi are rooted to the bottom. Chattisgarh drew their 2nd match on Sunday against Tamil Nadu after conceding a first-innings lead.

Only the table-toppers from each of the 8 groups in the Elite format qualify for the quarter-final barring the lowest-ranked of all 8 teams, which will play a pre-quarterfinal with the topper of the Plate Group.
