Ranji Trophy 2022: Yash Dhull, who led India to U19 World Cup glory earlier this month, shone on his Ranji Trophy debut, hitting a hundred for Delhi against Tamil Nadu in Guwahati on Thursday.

Former India batter Vinod Kambli on Friday heaped praise on Yash Dhull, who made a mark on his Ranji Trophy debut for Delhi, hitting a hundred against Tamil Nadu in their season opener in Guwahati on Thursday.

2 weeks after leading India to their 5th U19 World Cup title, Yash Dhull was picked for Delhi with the selectors fast-tracking the teenager from Delhi to the Ranji Trophy squad. Dhull, who was asked to open for Delhi in their Group H opener grabbed the opportunity that came his way with both hands.

Dhull led Delhi's fightback after they were reduced to 7/2 by Tamil Nadu in Guwahati on Thursday. He showcased his composure, hitting 113 runs from just 150 balls as he put Delhi in the driver's seat at the end of the day's play.Kambli, taking to the KOO app, said a senior India call-up is not far away from Yash Dhull if he continues to put in such consistent performances.

Dhull, who hit a hundred in the semi-final of the U19 World Cup against Australia, also bagged an Indian Premier League contract when he was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 50 lakh at the mega auction on Sunday.

"Yash Dhull has announced his arrival in the first-class matches in style. Played with great composure to achieve a century , i am sure with consistent domestic performances and a good IPL season, playing for India is on the cards for this young lad. Congratulations Mr. Dhull," Kambli said.

Dhull will be joined by his U19 World Cup teammate Vicky Ostwal at Delhi Capitals. Meanwhile, all-rounder Raj Bawa was bought by Punjab Kings for Rs 2 crore while Rajvardhan Hangargekar, the tearaway pacer, was sold to Chennai Super Kings for Rs 1.5 crore.
