Rahul Dravid scored the first of his 36 Test centuries in Johannesburg in 1997 and said that it would be a different feeling for him to be winning a Test at the venue as a coach compared to what it was as a player.
The first of 36 Test centuries that Rahul Dravid scored in his illustrious international career came at the Wanderers in Johannesburg, where he returns as the Indian team's head coach in the second Test against South Africa that starts on Monday. Dravid joked that he remembers the fact that India failed to win that Test due to persistent rains and the disappointment they felt from that and also said that the century gave him confidence for the rest of his career.
Dravid scored 148 in the first innings of the 1997 Test at the Wanderers, leading India to a formidable score of 410. Fast bowler Javagal Srinath's five-wicket haul then helped India take a significant lead. He then scored 81 in the second innings but the match then petered out due to rain in the last two days of the match.
