Quality has no age: Jose Mourinho believes he and Carlo Ancelotti have lot more to give to world football

Jose Mourinho and Carlo Ancelotti have both reached the finals of European competitions. While Mourinho is in the finals of the Europa Conference League, Ancelotti is vying for the Champions League against Liverpool.

Nearing his 60th birthday, the legendary Jose Mourinho has said that he still has more to give to world football. Speaking ahead of their Conference League final against Feyenoord, Mourinho said that quality has no age.

“Quality has no age. The same thing applies to players. There are players who are great at 20 and players who are great at 40,” the Roma manager said.

The 59-year-old Mourinho was asked on Wednesday, 18 May, if critics had been too quick to write him and 62-year-old Carlo Ancelotti off too quickly.

While Mourinho has been able to take Roma to the Conference League final, the club’s first since 1991, Ancelotti has taken an injury-ridden real Madrid to the Champions League final. Real’s campaign has been an inspirational story so far, having beaten Manchester City in the semi-finals of the tournament in a dramatic second half victory.

Ancelotti had even called the victory after their 4-3 loss in the Etihad and has said that he believes in the magic of the Bernabeu and the fans should be prepared to see something special. The Madrid-based side will be up against Liverpool, who they had defeated earlier in the Champions League in an infamous game.

Both coaches came to their present clubs after a controversy ridden stay at Tottenham (Mourinho) and Everton (Ancelotti). Mourinho spoke on the matter and said that it is the people’s outlook that creates the problem.

“The problem with Carlo was that when you coach Everton you definitely won’t win the Champions League. My problem is that people looked at it as me taking on jobs to win but it wasn’t about winning,” Mourinho said. “When you have a history of repeated success, people can say those things — it doesn’t bother me.”
