Doha, Qatar: The Qatar youth boxing team returned to Doha yesterday following their remarkable participation in the Asian Youth Championship, held in Bangkok from July 30 to August 12.
The tournament witnessed a standout performance from boxer Fares Al Thani, who secured the bronze medal in the +90kg weight category - a new achievement added to Qatar’s continental boxing record.
Upon arrival at Hamad International Airport, the delegation was greeted by Sheikh Fahad bin Khalid Al Thani, President of the Qatar Boxing and Wrestling Federation; Sultan Hassan Al Jammali, Secretary General of the Federation; and Ghanem Saleh Al Kuwari, Board Member and Head of the Boxing Committee.
They congratulated champion Fares Al Thani and the team on their accomplishment, reaffirming the Federation’s continued support for developing the sport and preparing athletes for upcoming competitions.
Sheikh Fahad bin Khalid Al Thani praised the team’s outstanding showing, saying: “We are proud of what our boxer Fares Al Thani achieved at the Asian Youth Championship. This accomplishment is the result of hard work and consistent training, and it confirms we are on the right path toward building a generation capable of representing Qatar at the highest sporting stages. We promise to continue developing young talents and providing the best conditions to achieve more successes.”
