QNADohaPrime Minister of the Republic of Moldova Natalia Gavrilita has expressed her great admiration for the food security strategy that Qatar was able to build during the last period.Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova said, in exclusive statements to Qatar News Agency (QNA), that she had very fruitful discussions with Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, on areas of cooperation between the two countries in many fields, expressing her pleasure to visit Qatar at the invitation of the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, especially that the visit coincides with the passage of 25 years of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and the State of Qatar. She pointed out that her discussions dealt with the challenges that Moldova faces in the field of food security, and the possibility of cooperation with regard to investments in the agribusiness sector, pointing to the discussion of the refugee-related crisis and how to deal with this problem, and long-term needs in terms of education and health, and the inclusion of refugees, the majority of whom are children, in the education and health sectors.“We also discussed energy, and the challenges that we have in terms of security of supply, the lessons that we have learned in the gas crisis of the end of last year. So, we are looking to build up a strategic reserve of the country for at least 2, 3 months of supply but we are also looking into the long term for alternative supply including the development of the renewable sector,” she added.Natalia Gavrilita said, “We have agreed to continue our discussions for the sectoral people to follow up on these issues, and we look forward to further develop our biliteral relationship.” She explained that there is a great opportunity to develop economic and trade cooperation between Qatar and Moldova“We have about $1.5 million in terms of trade, which is, as you understand, a very small number, even though we have had good progress in our political relations, I think that there is a lot of potential and room for improvement in terms of our economic and trade cooperation, we will continue working, even though we are facing challenging times we need to work for the future,” she said.
