Tribune News NetworkDohaQatari runner Mubarak Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi, along with Thai runner Purnsak Thongchi, implemented a charitable sports initiative in support of the humanitarian projects implemented by Qatar Charity (QC) worldwide. Al-Khulaifi and his Thai colleague completed a full 180-kilometre run around Phuket, the biggest Island of Thailand, in 48 hours and 55 minutes, aiming to utilise the revenue from the challenge for humanitarian work. The initiative focused on financing a project to reclaim a 500-square-metre agricultural land in Palestine to help a needy family have a continuous income that meets their daily needs.The target amount was collected via social media before the runners Al-Khulaifi and Thai colleague reached the finish line.Al-Khulaifi expressed his happiness at the success of the initiative, thanking QC for providing the project, receiving donations for it and supervising its implementation. He thanked all the supporters who contributed to the success of the challenge, indicating his previous cooperation with QC during Ramadan in the âOrphansâ Giftsâ project. He also looked forward to carrying out other initiatives that would contribute to supporting QC programmes and projects.Abdulaziz Jassim Hajji, director of Marketing, Digital Growth and Customer Service Departments at QC, praised the initiative, which linked sports to charitable work, emphasising the active and effective role of Qatari youth in society.He noted that QC encourages youth to undertake voluntary activities that support charitable and humanitarian work, pointing out that QC has previously organised and sponsored many initiatives, challenges and trips for Qatari young athletes, innovative and creative persons, and volunteers to contribute to humanitarian work.
