Punjab: Covid-19 positivity rate drops but death rate has authorities worried

In the first week of June, Punjab recorded a case fatality rate (CFR) of 4.2 per cent. It jumped to 5.8 per cent between June 8 and June 14. The CFR in Punjab is now five times of the national average of 1.2 per cent. 

Punjab is witnessing a drop in Covid-19 positivity rate but the surge in case fatality rate (CFR) has state authorities worried. The pandemic claimed a total of 15,650 lives in Punjab as of Tuesday. The active caseload stood at 11,913 in Punjab. Case fatality rate (CFR) is the proportion of deaths caused by a certain disease compared to the total number of people found infected with the same disease.
