A release from the Chief Minister’s Office here after the review of the Minor Irrigation Department said that the project plan is ready and the Finance Department has been directed to accord approval for the project.
It also said that adequate funding will be ensure to implement tank projects through treated water in K.C. Valley, H.N. Valley, Vrushabhavati Valley, and Hoskote and Anekal projects.
The release said that the BWSSB has to provide 440 MLD of treated water of which it is currently supplying 265 MLD, and the construction of treatment plants would be completed by the end of this year to meet the target.
While the first phase of K.C. Valley has been completed at a cost of ₹1,342 crore by filling 145 tanks, the second phase is being implemented at a cost of ₹446 crore to fill 272 tanks.
Karnataka has added 9,449 hectares to the command area of minor irrigation projects during this financial year, while the target is to complete 17 projects currently being executed that would add another 5,989 hectares to the command area, the release said.
It said that the State has about 8.92 lakh hectares in command area, including 94,315 hectares under the command area of 421 lift irrigation projects and 4.37 lakh hectares under the command of 3,778 tanks.
