An Oregon principal was fired after allegedly scolding students who refused to attend classes on Indigenous Peoples Day.
The Siletz Valley School has a predominantly Indigenous student body. It’s located outside the Siletz Indian Reservation. Joshua Q. Nelson is a reporter for Fox News Digital.
The K-12 school opened as a charter school in 2003, the school's website states. Siletz Valley School enrolls 200 students, including about 75 in high school. Joshua focuses on politics, education policy ranging from the local to the federal level, and the parental uprising in education.
The protest was fueled by a school policy requiring students to attend classes on Indigenous Peoples' Day. Joining Fox News Digital in 2019, he previously graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in Political Science and is an alum of the National Journalism Center and the Heritage Foundation's Young Leaders Program.
