WASHINGTON – Richard Grenell, a close foreign policy adviser to President Donald Trump, is exiting his role leading the Trump-Kennedy Center for the Arts, after a tumultuous year for the performing arts venue.
Trump announced the news in a March 13 post on social media. He named Matt Floca, the building’s vice president for facilities and operations, as its next CEO.
“Ric Grenell has done an excellent job in helping to coordinate various elements of the Center during the transition period, and I want to thank him for the outstanding work he has done,” Trump wrote.
Floca’s appointment will need to be approved by the performing arts center’s board of directors.
The news comes after Trump in February announced plans to shutter the center for two years, beginning after July 4, as it undergoes renovations. Since taking office, Trump has sought to overhaul the venue, which he previously criticized as too "woke."
