Home Minister emphasizes police reform, infrastructure improvement, and development in Kalyana Karnataka; BJP criticized for false allegations.
Emphasising that the police should be more people-friendly, Home Minister G. Parameshwara has said that the State government will strengthen the Home Department by filling vacant posts, constructing new police stations and building residential quarters for personnel with all amenities.
He was inaugurating the newly constructed Yadgir Town Police Station that has come up at a cost of ₹2.12 crore and 72 residential quarters built at a cost of ₹17 crore in Yadgir on Monday.
“It is tough to work in the Home Department as the public depend on the police for solving their problems. Everything will get resolved in police stations. Therefore, action will be taken to provide them the basic infrastructure, including appointing staff and officers. It has been decided to appoint 1,000 sub-inspectors shortly,” he said.
Referring to the Dr. D.M Nanundappa Committee set up by the former Chief Minister late S.M. Krishna and subsequent special allocation of funds, Dr. Parameshwara said that because of the special efforts of the senior leader and AICC president M. Mallikarjun Kharge, Article 371(J) was implemented for Kalyana Karnataka.
Consequently, candidates from the region are getting seats in engineering and medical colleges and also getting reservation in appointments. The Kalyana Karnataka region will develop like other developed regions in the next two decades, he said.
Appreciating the way the police cracked the bank robbery case in Mangaluru, the Home Minister said that the police recovered the gold articles within a short period. Similarly, the police will arrest those involved in the Bidar bank robbery case within four-five days as, already, the accused have been identified, he said.
Lauding the guarantee schemes, he said: “As the chairman of the manifesto preparation committee, I inserted the guarantee schemes to stabilise the financial status of the people who were already fed up with price hikes. As promised, we implemented schemes and spent around ₹58,000 crore to take benefits to the people. We will continue with the schemes and there is no question of withdrawing them, as misled by the Opposition.”
