Police are responding in large numbers to a synagogue in Michigan following reports of an active shooter
The Oakland County Sheriff's Office said multiple law enforcement agencies are responding to active shooter reports at Temple Israel, a Reform Jewish synagogue in West Bloomfield Township, a Detroit suburb.
The sheriff's office said emergency personnel were "clearing the building."
FBI Director Kash Patel said agents were on scene and described the incident as a "apparent vehicle ramming and active shooter situation."
The West Bloomfield Police Department also sent out an alert, urging residents to avoid the area. Michigan State Police's Second District, which also acknowledged the reported active shooting incident, said troopers were increasing patrols at other places of worship in the district.
