Between St. Patty's Day and St. Paddy's Day, there is arguably a correct answer for shortening the name of the March 17 holiday.
Between nationwide deals, local parades and other beloved traditions, thousands around the country have already given the green light to St. Patrick's Day festivities this year.
The annual holiday, which falls on March 17, is intended to celebrate Irish heritage, particularly St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland.
And with St. Patrick's Day season upon us, some may be quick to refer to it by a shorter nickname: St. Patty's Day or St. Paddy's Day.
The variations, while pronounced almost identically, differ by spelling. While it may seem innocuous, that difference does actually matter, according to some.
