A police incident has shut down a stretch of Highway 16 about 30 kilometres east of Prince George, B.C., with no detour available on Tuesday night.
Prince George RCMP say an active investigation is underway between Upper Fraser Road and the Willow River rest area.
"This is an incredibly dynamic event that remains ongoing," said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, media relations officer for the Prince George RCMP, in a statement.
"We are requesting that everyone stay clear of the area to give our police officers room to work safely."
Members of the North District Emergency Response Team and B.C.'s anti-gang unit, the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit, are responding to the incident along with police dogs and a helicopter, according to the statement.
Cooper said more details will be released "when they become available" and advised drivers to check DriveBC for updates on road closures.
