Punjab police has identified the person killed in Ludhiana court complex blast as Gangandeep Singh, a dismissed police official.
The investigation revealed that deceased was carrying the explosive, Punjab Director General of Police Siddharth Chattopadhyaya said in a press conference on Saturday.
Singh was a resident of Khanna in Ludhiana and was dismissed from police service in 2019 after he was found to be involved in an illicit drugs trafficking case.
As speculation over the continuation of Minister for Scheduled Tribes Welfare B. Nagendra in the Cabinet persisted, with the demand for his resignation raised by the BJP in connection with the ₹94 crore scam at the Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation, his Cabinet colleagues came to his defence on Thursday.
