Petrol and diesel prices remained constant across the metro cities on Saturday, February 12, 2022. Check out the city-wise rates here.
For the 99th day on February 12, petrol and diesel prices were kept unchanged, according to a price notification by state-owned fuel retailers.
It is the longest period in the fuel industry when the rates remained static in India. On November 4, 2021, the central government slashed the excise duty on fuel.
In Delhi, fuel is relatively cheaper than the rest of the metros because the state government had earlier decided to reduce the Value-Added Tax (VAT) on petrol, bringing down the price of the fuel in the city by about Rs 8 per litre.
The rates of petrol stood at Rs 95.41 per litre and diesel at Rs 86.67 per litre in Delhi. In Mumbai, petrol retailed at Rs 109.98 per litre, while diesel was being sold at Rs 94.14 per litre.
Meanwhile, among the metro cities, fuel rates are still the highest in Mumbai.
In Kolkata, petrol and diesel prices remained at Rs 104.67 and Rs 89.79 per litre respectively. Meanwhile, Chennai retailed a litre of petrol at Rs 101.40 and diesel at Rs 91.43 per litre.
