PETA launches campaign against bearskin hats worn by King's Guard in United Kingdom
Fox News
PETA has called on the U.K. Ministry of Defense to stop buying bearskin furs that are used on the King's Guard iconic hats because they are killed inhumanely.
Tradition is never an excuse for cruelty. Tradition is no excuse for cruelty. Sarah Rumpf-Whitten is a breaking news writer for Fox News Digital and Fox Business.
The group, in a statement and a video released Wednesday narrated by British actor Stephen Fry, alleged that the fur from the bears killed is auctioned off and sometimes ends up in the hats worn by the soldiers of the King's Guard. She is a native of Massachusetts and is based in Orlando, Florida.
"Every day that our soldiers wear hats made from the fur of slaughtered bears brings dishonor to our country," Fry said in the video. Story tips and ideas can be sent to sarah.rumpf@fox.com and on X: @s_rumpfwhitten.
