A person infected with measles landed at Montreal-Trudeau International Airport on Jan. 8 after flying with Air Canada, Quebec’s Health Ministry announced in a news release Friday.
The flight in question is AC 835, which landed in the afternoon. People on board this flight and present at the airport in the arrivals and baggage area between 3:51 p.m. and 6:20 p.m. on that day may have been exposed to the measles virus, authorities warn.
The ministry also indicates that the infected person visited several locations between Jan. 10 and 13, including a Super C grocery store, the emergency department and radiology clinic at Verdun hospital, and a Familiprix pharmacy.
On its website, the ministry provides a complete list of locations, dates and times that may have put the public at risk.
Public health is urging anyone who visited these locations during the specified periods to monitor for symptoms and to call the 811 Info-Santé line if symptoms appear.
People at risk of complications include babies under one, immunocompromised individuals and those who are pregnant but not adequately vaccinated against measles.
In addition to this, an outbreak is underway with a total of nine other cases confirmed in the Lanaudière, Laurentians, Laval and Montreal regions.
The last measles outbreak in the province took place between December 2024 and April 19, 2025.
The government recommends vaccination as the best protection against measles.
