Pedestrian hit, killed by school bus in St. Thomas

A pedestrian has died in hospital after she was hit by a school bus on St. Thomas's main downtown road, police announced Tuesday.
The collision happened on Monday. At 3:20 p.m., police were called to the intersection of Talbot and Manitoba streets. The incident resulted in the closure of Talbot Street between Manitoba and Alma streets for some time.
Police and paramedics arrived to find the pedestrian with life threatening injuries. The woman was taken to hospital and later died of her injuries, police said in a statement.
In total, there were four people inside the school bus at the time of the collision, three of whom were passengers said St. Thomas Police spokesperson Samantha Wakefield.
"They were high school students," she said. "Everyone involved yesterday has been connected to victim services resources to provide support."
The deceased has been identified as Elizabeth Anderson, 75, of St. Thomas.
Police continue to investigate, and say more information will be shared as it becomes available.
So far, no charges have been publicly announced by police.
