IPL 2022, PBKS vs GT: Shikhar Dhawan on Friday became the first Indian to hit 1000 boundaries in T20 cricket and the 5th batter overall to get to the milestone. Dhawan achieved the feat after a cheeky start for PBKS against unbeaten GT in Mumbai.
Shikhar Dhawan on Friday scripted history by becoming the first Indian batter to complete 1,000 boundaries in T20 cricket. The India opener became only the 5th batter overall in world cricket as he joined an elite list of cricketers, including West Indies great Chris Gayle.
Shikhar Dhawan, playing his 307th T20 match on Friday, achieved the landmark while playing for Punjab Kings, his new franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, against Gujarat Titans at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Dhawan needed 3 more boundaries to get to the landmark ahead of Mach 16 of the IPL season and heft got there after getting off to a solid start on Friday.

Dhawan opened his account with an inside edge against Hardik Pandya, the Gujarat Titans captain who opened the bowling for his team. Incidentally, luck went Dhawan's way as he inside-edged to another boundary in Mohammed Shami's 2nd over.
Dhawan took the attack to Lockie Ferguson in the Gujarat Titans pacer's first over to get to the landmark.
